This review synthesizes more than 60 LLM-based agent systems across genomics, proteomics, single-cell and spatial biology, drug discovery, bioinformatics workflows, and biomedical applications. It proposes a cross-domain taxonomy and highlights evaluation, grounding, reproducibility, and safety challenges.
